The Lead: Daniel Funke On Life Since The Lead

Today’s episode goes down as one of my favorites I have had the pleasure of producing as host of The Lead. I interviewed Daniel Funke for our Season 7 finale episode. This name may sound familiar, and it should—Daniel was the first host of The Lead back in 2016. He returned to Grady recently, and I was thrilled when he agreed to an interview.

Since graduating from Grady in 2017, Funke has worked for the Poynter Institute and now Politifact as a misinformation reporter. In this episode, he shares his thoughts on how his experiences in college helped shape him as a young professional. We also discuss what it means to cover misinformation in today’s political landscape.

We will be back in 2020 with more exciting conversations with media leaders. Until next time, give our finale episode a listen:

The James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management and Leadership at the Grady College prepares students and professionals for leadership roles in the news media. By sponsoring intensive training programs and funding applied research, the Cox Institute is at the forefront of addressing the strategic challenges faced by contemporary news organizations.
