Drive down an Athens residential street or stroll through the Five Points neighborhood and you may notice tiny, house-like structures staked in front yards or along sidewalks. These are Little Free Libraries.
 
 Why It’s Newsworthy: Since its inception as a nonprofit in 2012, the nonprofit organization Little Free Library has established over 100,000 Little Free Libraries in all 50 states and over 100 countries. Twenty-nine of these are registered in Athens, Georgia.
