Archeology Program Enters New Phase: UGA Students, Community Search for People of the Past

A local team of students are digging up the past to find clues about the present. Students and faculty at the University of Georgia are researching the history of Sandy Creek Park. The place that is known today as a nature center was once a factory producing bricks for buildings all across Georgia.

This project is currently funded by the UGA Anthropology Department and individuals within the department, but they have plans to apply for funds to cover additional costs in the near future. Grady Newsource reporter Reilley Moss has the story.

Reilley Moss is a student majoring in journalism and minoring in communications with a Certificate in News Literacy and Sports Media at the University of Georgia.
