Athens, GA – Athens-Clarke County police have confirmed that the deceased person found in the Middle Oconee River in Ben Burton Park is 40-year old Mickey Lynn Mills, from Athens. Mills was reported missing on Monday, September 22.

ACC police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation responded to a 911 call after a hiker found a dead body submerged in the river deep within the park. The body was recovered with assistance from the ACC Fire Department. Police say there is no indication of foul play and Mills’ body has been sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
