After speaking with the Athens Clarke County police, it has been made clear that the incident occurred on Oglethorpe Avenue, not on a UGA campus.
According to the University of Georgia Police Department’s timely warning update, there was an armed robbery near the Health Sciences campus, during which shots were fired. The suspect then was picked up and traveled towards the Atlanta Highway/Sycamore Drive area.
SUSPECT DESCRIPTION:
The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark blue shorts and a black shirt, mid 20’s in age. No further description is available at this time. Anyone with information related to this incident should call 911 immediately.
