Clarke Central Swimming and Diving prepares for Area Championships

The Clarke Central Gladiators Swimming and Diving team will compete in the Area Championships on Friday.

“We’re still working on technique stuff, so this week really really concentrating on trying to finish a lot of that stuff, get their strokes working properly, working on starts and turn,” says Assistant head Coach Sean Gillan.

The coed swim team will go up against some top end swimmers, but he has a few of his own. One of them is senior Owen Churchwell.

In Churchwell ‘s last championship meet, he didn’t exactly finish where he wanted to. His personal best in the 100 breaststroke is 58.13 seconds and in the 100 freestyle, his personal best is 47.22 seconds.
He says he’s following his coaches’ advice.

“Going into this championship meet, I want to be closer to the top. I want to compete and try to win,” Churchwell states.
