Candidate FAQs
Q: Why are you running?
“The reason I’m running for secretary of state is because experience matters,” Fleming said in an interview from May 2026. “I’ve served in office for almost eight years in various roles. I served in the executive branch under the governor, and now recently serving in the legislative branch where I’ve worked on election legislation, licensure reform … It’s my belief that these governmental agencies should be there to help our taxpayers and citizens, not put up roadblocks, which we see a lot of times.”
Q: What experiences have prepared you for this office?
Fleming, in past interviews, has repeatedly cited his time as deputy secretary of state and chief of staff under then-Secretary of State Brian Kemp, as well as his current position as state representative for house District 14 as reasons for Georgia voters to elect him.
Q: What are the most important issues facing the state of Georgia and what would you do to address them?
Fleming described his top issues on his campaign website as ensuring secure, accessible, fair and trusted elections, streamlining professional licensing, protecting voter ID, enhancing technology, improving customer service and cutting red tape holding small businesses back.
