Georgia State Trooper Shot on Atlanta Highway

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Jacob Fields, a Georgia State Patrol Trooper, was shot on Interstate 75 in Atlanta around 3:30 p.m. The trooper was conducting a traffic stop, but the suspected shooter did not slow down and a chase began toward Delk Road, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Additional troopers joined the pursuit to capture the suspect, who struck another vehicle during the pursuit.

Fields, who was shot in the abdomen and the leg, is stable and alert and on his way to Kennestone Hospital. He has been a trooper for three years.

The alleged gunman was shot as well and his condition is unknown
