Local Clinics Prep for Spreading Virus

Athens, Ga – What may be a cold could end up being Enterovirus EV-D68, a virus strain that has hospitalized hundreds of children in midwestern states. Report Heather Emmett spoke with a local clinic to see what they’re doing to prepare for possible cases.

The virus has been around since the 60s. This outbreak is unusual because there have been so many hospitalizations this September. Medical officials are urging parents to keep their children away from areas with a lot of germs. Playgrounds, zoos and parks should be avoided.

Simple things like handwashing, using sanitizer and drinking plenty of water can help Georgians stay healthy.

There is no known form of vaccination for the virus. The few reported cases in Georgia are not serious at this time according to health reports.
