Medical Marijuana Decision Coming Soon

The Georgia Senate is expected to vote on a medical marijuana compromise today. If senators say yes, it could soon be legal for some Georgians to use an oil form of marijuana.

The House Bill, drafted by Representative Allen Peake, is more broad and would allow medical marijuana to be used for multiple diagnoses, including cancer.  Representative Peake says this legislation has a lot of support in the state, and he is optimistic it will pass.

He explained, “Most georgians in some polls 75 to 80% support legislation providing immunity for cannabis oil to be used for certain medical conditions.. and thats exactly what HB1 does.”

The compromise between the Senate committee and the House was passed last week. The Bill is expected to be heard in the Senate today, and possibly even make it to the House floor before the end of the day.

If this bill passes, it will make Georgia the 24th State to legalize medical marijuana.

12:48 PM:  The Medical Marijuana Bill passed the Senate.  Minor changes were made, so it is currently on its way back to the House for those changes to be approved.
