Morgan County and Athens-Clarke County Honored by Governor

UPDATE: 1:58 p.m.

Madison, Ga. — Morgan County director Monica Callahan is already busy planning new projects for this year.

“We are doing a model tot-lock program for safe play for children six and under,” Callahan said. “We are looking at doing some trail system improvements. The President’s trail will get acquired.”

The county was one of ten areas that were honored in Atlanta for being chosen as an inaugural member of the Plan First Program. The program recognizes cities and counties that follow through on its planning developments. It is an important recognition for the planning department and people in the community.  Callahan says every county honored deserved the recognition.

“What really is important about PlanFirst for us is our elected officials being able to see that there are communities that do good planning and follow-through,” Callahan said. “Our elected officials seeing that is very important.”

Athens-Clarke County was one of the ten areas honored.
