Jere Morehead Named New UGA President

It was a unanimous vote amongst the board members to vote Jere Morehead as the next President of UGA. Board of Regents Chariman NeSmith and Chancellor Huckaby said Morehead will begin his reign July 1, 2013.

NeSmith said in the conference call, Monday February 4th with the board members “All in favor of electing Jere Morehead as the 22nd President of the Univeristy of Georgia pleasey say I.” The member responded in unison saying I.

At the press conference Huckaby seemed more than complimentary of Morehead. He said, “We concluded, they concluded, I concluded, that having searched the country from east to west that we found the person that we wanted and needed right here on our campus.”

NeSmith had many positive things to say to Morehead on accepting his new position. He said,”We were looking for a rockstar that could take us further and as your candicy rose among the committee regents, you were among some rockstars but your star shined the brightest.”

NeSmith was more than happy to congratulate Morehead. He said, “We wanted you to know without any discussion there was a unanimous vote and we congratulate you on being named the future President of the University of Georgia and now our job as regents is to help you be the most successful President ever of this wonderful institution.”
