Proposed Athens Airport Renovations

The Athens Airport Authority will discuss the status of two airport projects at the meeting on Nov. 17, 2015 at 3:30 p.m..

The first project on the agenda, is an update on the Runway Extension Project. The airport’s primary runway has undergone construction to be extended. The extension is in its final stages and almost complete.

The Commercial Terminal Project is the second project listed on the agenda for tonights meeting. The purpose of this project is to replace the current commercial terminal in the airport, and it is currently in the design phase. The project is funded by a special-purpose local-option sales tax.

Along with updates on airport projects, the airport manager will give a report on how many flights have gone in and out of the airport. The meeting will also discuss a new board member, Scott Weinberg.
