Five Events to Attend This Weekend In Athens

You won’t have to worry about what to do this weekend. Athens has a lot going on from festivals to an activist event. Here’s what’s going on. 

International Street Festival – Saturday April 9th 12 to 5 p.m.

The International Street Festival will showcase diverse culture from 20 ethnic organizations. The annual festival will be filled with food, art, costumes and displays from all around the world. This year’s festival will have 18 different groups performing throughout the day, each from a different ethnic background. The annual festival is on College Avenue in downtown Athens.

UGA’s International Justice Mission Stand for Freedom – Saturday April 9th 7 p.m.  

UGA’s International Justice Mission is hosting an event to “stand for freedom” against human trafficking. There will be food, live music and swing dancing. The event will be held on Herty Field. You can buy your tickets here.

Blue and You Forum – Saturday April 9th 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 

Athens-Clarke County Police Department will engage with Athens area youth, their parents and caregivers to discuss the relationship with local law enforcers. The forum is hosted by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Athens. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The event will be held at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Athens on 705 Fourth St.

Plantapalooza – Saturday April 9th 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stock up you’re garden this weekend at Plantapalooza. There will be three simultaneous plant sales in Athens: at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, UGA’s Horticulture Club, and the Trial Gardens at UGA.

Terrapin 14th Anniversary Fest – Saturday April 9th 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

In honor of Athens Beer Week, Terrapin Brewery is hosting a beer fest for its 14th anniversary. Tickets are $25, and include a souvenir glass, brewery tours, and a $5 donation to Nuci’s Space. Order tickets here.
