UGA Spring Concert 2013

By: Brittany Chenelle

There was an unusual amount of people in the Tate Center today linked to the annual Spring Concert.
Tickets went on sale this morning at 9am for this year’s concert which features rapper Kendrick Lamar. The line wrapped throughout the Tate Center full of students eager to get their hands on some tickets.

“I woke up at like 5:30 and went to Snelling so like maybe 6, 6:30am,” Derek Pope said. “People were here early, someone said they were here at like 4 or 5.”

There was a capacity of only 1,600 tickets available and they all sold out within 4 hours of release. Many students complained about the organization of the ticket sales process.

“They handed out candy and stuff to try to please people and kept apologizing for the wait, that was good,” UGA student Chantz Martin said. “But overall I felt like it could’ve been way better and more efficient.”

Students suggested giving more details on the ticket sales process, expanding to digital sales, using a larger venue, & selling tickets at a different location. The Associate Director of Tate for Student Activities said they followed protocol and that there’s always room for improvement.

“There’s always opportunity for growth and development in policies and procedures,” Donovan Nichols said. “So after having going through this we’ll definitely be taking a look at it to see how we can make the situation the best so that it is the best for student.”

Kendrick Lamar will be performing in the Tate Grand Hall on March 7th.
