UNO “Will Not Meet Goal” for Parkinson’s Research

The UGA Undergraduate Neuroscience Organization (UNO) raised over a thousand dollars this weekend in their annual Party for Parkinson’s event, but the president of UNO is not too happy with the outcome.

Their goal this year is $3,500, but on Saturday, during the Party for Parkinson’s event, they only raised $1118.

There had been other events to help raise the total, but Lillie Tien, the president of UNO, does not think it will raise much.

“Last year we reached our $3,500 goal with no problem,” but this year, Tien says, “we will not meet our goal.”

All the money they raise will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. There is no known cure for this disease.

There are 20,033 people living with Parkinson’s disease in Georgia and 164 people with the disease living in Athens-Clarke County according to Stephanie Paul, who is the Vice President of Development and Marketing at the American Parkinson Disease Association.
