“Get up for work and dress for success.”

If you woke up at 4:15 in the morning, every morning, would this be yourmotto? It is for one officer at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

That motto may explain how Corporal Brian Perrin has worked with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office for more than 5 years. This year he was named Jackson County’s Deputy of the Year. A title that could have been earned from by his daily motto.

“You never know when that bad call is coming in.”

He says that even in the wee hours of the morning, he’s prepared for any situation; “, there’s just a clock on the wall, but it can happen two seconds from now,” Perrin said.

Perrin says working with a team of well-trained deputies coupled with a supportive boss, Sheriff Janis Mangum, helps makes his job a little easier. “She genuinely cares for all of the officers. She makes all of her employees feel like they are on a team,” Perrin said.

Previously Corporal Perrin worked at the Arcade Police Department where he wrote the training manual for the deputies. He also wrote the training manual for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

“You never know if you are going to make it home at night or not.”

That’s why before Perrin leaves his home for work he says the last thing he tells his family is “I love you.”
