ATHENS — Home Matters is building a model home in Tate Plaza to raise awareness about local low-income housing. Their goal is to bring more attention about homelessness in Athens. Individuals can show support by signing a pledge near where the house is being constructed. The home will be complete at four today.A supporter of Home Matters Athens, Cristian Delgado, explained the mission behind the construction in Tate Plaza. Home Matters Athens is a branch of the national organization, Home Matters America, dedicated to bringing awareness to the affordable housing issue in the United States. The Athens branch hopes to decrease homelessness, increase affordable rent numbers and increase the quality of living in low-income housing.
