Tips for Winter Storm Travel

Traveling on roads are becoming even more risky as the storm continues to make it’s way out of Georgia. Steve Harris, Director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness, gives a few tips on what travelers must do if they become stranded on the road. He says that commuters should:

1. Keep a fully charged cellphone at hand to call for help.

2. Have an emergency kit in your car at all times.

3. Stay warm with use of blankets. Do not keep your car (and your heater) on for long periods of time.

Reporter Kimmy Johnson talked with Steve Harris, the Director of the Office of Emergency Preparedness,  who says now is the best time to go out and get the things you need. You can also find emergency kits at the UGA Bookstore.
