Each day over five thousand students, kindergarten through seniors, all get on the bus to get to school safe and on time… but behind the curtain, one man is in charge of an entire county’s school bus system. Reporter Zack Watson follows The director of Transportation for all oconee county schools and it’s 90 buses.
Oconee County Transportation Duane Peterson is the Director of Transportation for all of the Oconee County School system.   He makes sure the buses are up to operating regulations, keeps track of all his school bus employees, keeps track of any route changes, creates schedules for every bus driver, fills in substitutes for any driver unable to do their route, and makes sure all students arrive safely and on time.  Peterson is on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week in case any Oconee County school bus has a problem.
