Emergency Preparedness Week

ATHENS – The Office of Emergency Preparedness and the Grady College of Public Affairs students have teamed up to educate students on ways to stay safe in emergency situations. Today is the second day of Emergency Preparedness week and today is a day for finding out what to do in the case of bomb threats and active shooters. A member of the K-9 training unit of the University Police Department. Sgt. Rusty Williams and his K-9 partner Emma were at the table today where Rusty spoke with reporter Mikhaela Singleton about his experience with the K-9 unit and what students should do in an emergency.

There will be a meeting for students tonight at 6:30 in MLC 214. Former law officer and current Emergency Operations Coordinator for the Office of Emergency Preparedness Pete Golden will be speaking on what to do when faced with an active shooter. Free pizza for the first 30 attendees!
