The Jackson County School System plans to demolish West Jackson Primary School and build a new middle school in its place.

More than 100 people attended the Jackson County Board of Education meeting Monday night, and no one spoke out against the closure of West Jackson Primary School. April Howard, Jackson County Schools’ superintendent, gave the public a chance to voice its concern.

The school system already closed West Jackson Primary School and moved its students to West Jackson Elementary School. The elementary school originally held third through fifth grade while the primary school held pre-K through second grade. West Jackson Elementary School now holds pre-K through fifth grade.

The school board is moving forward with their plans since no one spoke at Monday night’s meeting.

Howard explains how Jackson County School System plans to move forward with the process.
