Oglethorpe Cares: Community Christmas

By: Erin O’Brien

The Oglethorpe Community Christmas has been going on for a little over a month now, and over 153 children’s Christmas lists still need to be funded. But founder Catherine Drewry says not to worry: December brings out the holiday spirit.

There is still plenty of time for those to donate time, money, or gifts to the charity. Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Adopt a child
  • Shop for a child
  • Donate money

The charity gathers gifts for newborns up to children age 18, as long as they are still enrolled in school. A typical list is anywhere from $75 – $100 and includes anything from diapers, clothes, acne treatment, deodorant, and toys.

There is also a free yard sale the day the families pick up their gifts, where donators can donate gently used electronics, toys, books, and clothes for families to pick from.

All gifts are due by Dec. 10 at the Crawford Baptist Church.
