Police Concerned About Rash of Daytime Burglaries

ATHENS, Ga. — The Athens-Clarke County Police Department said Monday that they’ve seen an increase in burglaries in the area of Lexington Rd. and Gaines School Rd.

In a post, the department said that they responded to nine burglaries in the past two weeks in that area, and that those burglaries tend to occur in the daytime hours.111416-map-001

They asked that anyone with information call (706) 613-3358 or send them a private message on Facebook.

Later this afternoon, Grady Newsource will have more on what you can do to protect yourself, and whether police expect more burglaries during the University of Georgia’s Thanksgiving break next week.
