It’s a big day for transportation in Georgia: the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia is hosting the annual Georgia Transportation Summit.
At the event, top officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation and other transportation companies of Georgia will meet and talk about the latest needs and happenings in the world of transportation. They covered the state of transportation in Georgia, and got a chance to look at major projects as a cohesive unit.
“The idea is to have a conversation about the state of Georgia’s transportation infrastructure that is broadly defined,” ACEC CEO Michael Sullivan said. “We want to bring the entire transportation community together.”
On the plate currently are big projects involving work on I-285, and the Northwest corridor of I-75, which is nearing completion. Experts at the Summit also predicted how much might be available financially during the next year, when a new group takes charge federally.
“Transportation infrastructure ultimately is the circulatory system of our economy,” Sullivan said. “Whatever you’re buying or selling, whatever you’re transporting, you’re doing that on our transportation infrastructure network.”
Sullivan said that the Summit was at its largest size ever, with more than 950 people in attendance. The Transportation Summit is the largest transportation conference in Georgia, and Sullivan expects that it will still grow from here. He hopes to reach 1000 attendees next year.
