UGA Offers Game Day Tailgating Event at Dawson Hall Without Drinking

Some traditions that take place on game day appeal to many, others don’t. This weekend’s University of Georgia vs. Notre Dame football game is expected to have a large crowd, a lot of traffic—and tailgating.

“We’re expecting a large amount of traffic for this game day,” said Kelly Truesdell, assistant director of Health Promotion and Community Outreach at the University of Georgia.

The University Health Center is hosting one of its special Fontaine Center tailgates, where NOT drinking on game day is the norm. This tailgate will still have all the other positives of any other tailgate, including music, games of cornhole, and food.

The tailgate will take place on the front lawn of Dawson Hall on the UGA campus. Catering is provided by Zoës Kitchen and White Tiger Gourmet.

“I think the other thing to remember is, our students that don’t drink are going to be on campus on game day are just as important, or members of our community as the ones that do,” Truesdell said. “And I think it’s important for all students regardless of their decision whether or not they’re drinking or not to stay safe.”
