No one likes to be bogged down by illness…but you don’t want to take expired meds.
Andrew Russell, a pharmacy intern, says that it’s best not to chance it with unfinished prescriptions due to potential health issues.
The DEA ‘s “Drug take back day” allows for safe disposal of those old or unwanted prescriptions and medicine. Multiple police stations are involved and offer their locations as part of the event. But if you can’t make the event this saturday, Andrew suggests a list of other options in order to keep yourself and the environment safe.
The DEA reports that medicines in homes are the number one cause of accidental poisoning. If disposed of by trash and flushing, they can pollute our water as well.
After being collected, the leftovers will be securely taken to a facility to be incinerated.
New locations are being added daily, in order to be readily available for those looking to donate their old medicine.
