The World Roma Festival or Khamoro has been a Romani tradition in Prague since 2000. The festival takes place over multiple days in May, and on Friday, May 31, 2024, the Khamoro celebration included a parade from Wenceslas Square to Old Time Square in Prague. A group of young adults led the parade through the streets carrying multiple flags, small groups of adults and children followed behind, chanting and twirling their colorful dresses and playing musical instruments. Visual Travel Journalism in Prague 2024

Students from the 2024 Travel Journalism study abroad program in Prague focused on visual storytelling and produced daily photo content from the city and other locations. Throughout their 3.5 weeks in the Czech Republic, they explored during class activities and on their own, documenting everyday life, culture, history and more.

This gallery is just a small selection of the 306 overall daily photo posts, ~150 excursion reports and ~100 special activity photos published by the students as part of their coursework. Their daily photo posts also included 250-word extended captions, which have been editorially abbreviated here. Program Instructor Dr. Kyser Lough and Program Assistant Dr. Andrea Hudson led the class and compiled this gallery.
