The Slow Poke Bill

Athens, GA- If you’ve ever been behind a slow driver, you know the frustration. Especially when that driver is in the left, passing lane. Now, Georgia lawmakers are trying to make the punishment for this “obnoxious” driving greater. Really great- a misdemeanor.

The House passed Bill 459 states that someone “impeding traffic” by driving too slow in the passing lane would be punished with $1,000 fine or up to one year in jail. This bill has been nicknamed “the slow poke bill”, and it passed yesterday.

Next up, the bill makes it’s way tot he Senate floor to be voted on. But for now, the “slow poke bill” is gaining speed.
