Community Events Raise Thousands for Charities

Athens, GA–There’s a lot of sore muscles today, and thousands of dollars raised for local charities. More than 200 participants came out to Jittery Joe’s 5K Bike Ride on Saturday, helping reach a $6,000 goal for Athens habitat for humanity. The money raised will go towards building habitat’s 83rd home in Athens.

Also this weekend, the Aids Walk raised $19,088 for Aids Athens, and Athens Banner Herald’s “Hunt for Hope” scavenger hunt raised more that $7,000 for One Day for Mammograms. So those soar muscles won’t be going to wast
