Reporter Rebecca Scott has recipes for you and alternative ways to cook your food in case the power goes out. She will be posting easy recipes you can make with canned goods and leftovers and food that will spoil fastest.

If you have some ground beef either left over or that is thawing from your freezer not being on, don’t fret. There are some easy recipes that you can use to save the beef. And also used some of those canned veggies.

Shepherd’s Pie With and Without the Shell

4 to 5 potatoes (or a box of instant mashed potatoes)

1 canned corn

1 canned peas and carrots.

1 lb shredded chicken or ground beef.

If you have a pie shell, great, but if you don’t that’s OK too. Make some instant mashed potatoes, or left over potatoes. You’ll want too warm each of these separately and layer them in the pie shell if you have one. If you don’t just layer them on a  plate.
