Hull Street Deck Gets Speed Bumps

Athens, GA–

If you park in Hull Street Deck, then you probably had a bumpy ride in this morning. Parking Services installed several speed bumps throughout the busy deck. People who park there every school day discuss the impact of the new safety measures.

They’re black and yellow and hard on anyone’s ride.

Many drivers had their first encounter with the speed bumps this morning and the surprise definitely caused them to slow down.

The speed bumps are located at the corner of levels one, two, and three. There are two bumps on the first level ramp as well. Drivers say these are the areas where they have close calls because of speeders.

Parking Services added the speed bumps while students were gone on spring break.

Juanita from Parking Services said over the phone that they were installed to slow people down. Some students like them and others don’t.

Hull Street Deck is not the only deck on campus with speed breakers. South, North, and the Tate Decks also have them.

Whether these speed bumps will make the lot safer rather than cause more bumps and bruises is yet to be known.
