The Lead: We Made An eBook

A very exciting announcement is coming from the Cox Institute: we made an eBook based on The Lead podcast!

I mentioned in a post earlier this semester that I spent this past summer working on a book project with Kendall Hunt Publishing. Well folks, we have finally reached the finish line on that project.

The book features excerpts from more than 40 podcast episodes since 2016, totally more than 10 hours of audio material I had to transcribe, cull through and later edit. We really wanted this book to be interactive so audiences can read and listen to the content (it is based off of a podcast, of course).  So, I built a SoundCloud profile where all of the audio excerpts are stored by chapter, and these links are embedded into the eBook.

The book is broken up into four chapters: Leadership, Ethics & Responsibilities, Facets of Journalism and Finding Success. We believe these chapters play to the strongest elements of what this podcast has offered over the years.

The goal of the eBook is twofold: to increase the accessibility of the actual material presented in the podcast and to provide an educational tool to journalism educators.

It’s been such a joy to work on a project I care so deeply about as a journalism student. Dr. Herndon and I sat down to discuss the value and production of this project for a special bonus episode.

Give it a listen.
