12 New Chicken Houses are Coming to Oglethorpe County

12 new chicken houses are coming to Devil’s Pond road in Oglethorpe County. In a 4-1 vote last night,  Oglethorpe County commissioners approved the rezoning of a parcel of land from general agriculture to intensive agriculture.

This proposal has caused a lot of conflict these past few months because the chicken farm would be constructed in a residential area of county. While some residents argued the houses will be too large and too close to residential houses, others think that chicken farms are just part of living in a rural, agricultural county.
