UPDATE: UGA Student Suspected of Vandalism out on Bail

Brandyn Matthew Clark, who police suspect was involved in vandalizing cars at The Standard apartment, has been released from jail on bail.

The conditions of the bail included that Clark cannot communicate with any of the owners of the vehicles that were damaged except by consensual telephone conversation or e-mail. The conditions also said that he may only return once to The Standard with a police escort to remove his belongings, and that he may not be in possession of any drugs or alcohol without a doctor’s permission.

Clark was booked into ACC jail at 7:12 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26th for nine charges of felony criminal damage in the second degree.

The Standard is a mixed-use luxury apartment complex located in downtown Athens with mostly student residents.

Originally, a $5,000 bond was posted for each charge. At Clark’s hearing on Wednesday, January 27th, an Athens-Clarke County Magistrate judge added lessened the bond to $1,250 per felony.

An email was sent to residents notifying them that damage occurred, the assistant general manager told Grady Newsource. The email provided residents a phone number to an ACC detective who would handle the situation.

Police arrested Clark in October of 2015 for underage possession of alcohol.
