Who has your vote? With the primaries coming up, Republicans and Democrats are fighting until the end to get the nomination for their respective parties. But at what cost?
Right now, according to realclearpolitics.com, Donald Trump (R) is the favorite for the GOP nomination, and his campaign has spent just over $23.6 million. That may not sound like much, but it’s less than half of what Ted Cruz’s campaign has spent this election at more than $40.7 million. Cruz is currently trailing Trump by an average of 13.6 points, and Marco Rubio (R) is third behind the two.
On the other side of the race, Hillary Clinton (D) holds a narrow lead over Bernie Sanders (D) by just 5.6 points. Clinton has spent more than $93 million while Sanders has spent almost $81 million.
So does every dollar spent equal success? We’ll see in November.
