5 Things You Need To Know Tuesday September 23

Athens, GA- The second bond hearing for Ariel Arias, the 19-year-old student who posted a threat of violence on YikYak on Friday, is set for Tuesday at 1 p.m. Arias was denied bond in his first hearing on Monday. After his anonymous post on YikYak on Friday, Arias was arrested and charged with two felony counts of terroristic threats. Reporter Joey Ripley will keep us updated throughout the day with updates on how the bond hearing unfolds.

Athens, GA- Nearly every UGA student has heard the name Ariel Arias, but very few know much about him. Reporter Russel Abad is asking those who know him well to share information about the suspended UGA student. Abad will have updates throughout the day on information that he finds out about Arias beyond the costly mistake he made on Friday.

Athens, GA-  A freshman sorority girl was sent a disturbing text from an unknown number at around 1 a.m. last night detailing her personal information, including her address and license plate number. She reported it to the police shortly after she received the text. Reporter Briana Belser will update whether this text was a real threat or not, and whether anyone else around campus has received these texts.

Athens, GA- Cedar Shoals High School hosts rival Clarke Central High School in volleyball tonight at 6:30 p.m. Clarke Central (12-14) is looking to get its first road victory, while Cedar Shoals is looking to improve on its 2-8 record. Cedar Shoals is 20-21-1 against Clarke Central all-time in volleyball. With a win tonight, the Jaguars could tie up the all-time series. Sports Anchor Krissy Robinson is finding out how the teams are preparing for this rivalry.

Athens, GA- Georgia returns to Southeastern Conference play after thumping Troy 66-0 last weekend as the Bulldogs takes on Tennessee on Saturday. Head coach Mark Richt talks today about what he thinks will be his team’s greatest challenge heading into the 12 noon home game against the Volunteers. SEC Nation is coming to Athens on Saturday with the SEC Network crew, including former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.
