Homeowners in Jackson County could see an increase in their property taxes.

This evening, the Jackson County Commission is holding a public hearing to discuss the millage rates for 2017. The proposed millage rate will raise property taxes by more than three percent for unincorporated areas. That means an increase of a little more than seventeen dollars a year for a house valued at $150,000 dollars.

For areas that are incorporated, the proposed rate will raise property taxes by a little more than four percent.  That means there will be an increase of about twenty-five dollars per year.

The Jackson County Commission meeting is set for this evening starting at 6 pm at the Jackson County courthouse.
