Athens Plans To Install Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

The Athens-Clarke County government unanimously approved Project FAST Charge on Oct. 1.

Pitched by the sustainability department, this project promises the installation of EV chargers at 14 sites throughout Clarke County, with 12 of these sites being in federally recognized disadvantaged communities.

Why It’s Newsworthy: The commission just recently approved this project at a meeting on Oct. 1, according to Hannah Chaffee.

The department is waiting to hear back if they are awarded the funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Grant.

For more information about what chargers will be available at which sites, listen to the story to hear directly from the sustainability department and supporters of the project.
