Believe Wins SGA Election

Believe is the first all-Black executive ticket to win UGA’s Student Government Association’s election.

Although a Black President and Vice President were elected in 1993, the ticket did not include a Treasurer.

The Believe campaign received more than four thousand votes from students – a number which, in part, helped create the highest turn-out for any election in SGA history. President-elect Ammishaddai Grand-Jean says they were not actually trying to make history, though.

“We are blessed and humbled. It wasn’t our intent to make history. We are three people who wanted to make a change – we just so happen to share the same skin color,” says Grady-Jean.
