Athens-Clarke County Police confirm human remains found in a burned vehicle off Winterville Road in Athens. According to a news release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, the car was found at 1:38PM in the 1300 block of Winterville Road. We cannot confirm the gender of the human remains or the cause of death of the body. According to the news release, the ACCPD and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are conducting a joint investigation. We spoke with Lieutenant Tyndall from ACCPD at the scene. He says that they are in the early stages of the investigation.
