Building Memories through Light Box Memorials

Janice Lam is the owner of Kraftastic Creations and Light Box Gifts in Jasper County, Georgia. Lam has run her business out of a reclaimed trailer she bought from the Department of Education since 2015.

Lam has a deep love for the work that she does, specifically in the memorial business, because of her connection to her clients. Lam takes pride in her work and values positive feedback from her clients.

Lam works closely with her family. Her husband Tim Lam helps install the lights in her light box memorials. Her son, Jonathan, also helps out around the studio when he is not working. Lam’s work is for sale at The Artisans Village Art Gallery in Eatonton, Georgia. Her wood pieces are proudly labeled as made with wood grown in Monticello, Georgia.

Maddy Sparks is a senior majoring in journalism in the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia. This story was produced during the annual Woodall Weekend Workshop in 2023.
