New jobs..a new plant…and new life for one Northeast Georgia Community…today…the state’s Governor and key executives of Caterpillar opened up a new plant in Bogart.
Governor Nathan Deal says this is more than just a great day for Northeast Georgia…it’s a great day for the entire state.
Governor Nathan Deal says the Caterpillar plant opening is further evidence of making Georgia an attractive location for businesses. Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman says Athens was a favorable climate for his company to do business.
He says, “There’s lots of things that go in to that. Aggressiveness by the state in helping us. Quick Start, a tremendous program to get our people up-to-date…up to speed early…get them in the factories moving quickly and that was a key piece not to mention the transportation system here.”
Governor Deal adds, “I think they become truly one of the great ambassadors for the state of Georgia to say Georgia is indeed great place to do business.”
This plant will become Caterpillar’s global source for producing tractors and excavators. Once it’s becomes fully operational in 2015, it will be one of the largest single facilities in the country. And one that will showcase georgia…and it’s people to the world
“What you do as workers to turn out high-quality products really speak loudly than any thing Chris can say or that I can say.”
The plant was relatively empty but that will change. Today, the first 300 workers showed up to the plant to begin their new jobs.
