Emily Bowman’s father was at the hearing March 7th to see the driver for the first time. His wish was to not be filmed at all during the hearing. A fundraiser was also held at Buffalo’s.
Buffalo’s employee Bethany Bradford says, “I’ve worked here for four years and I am a friend of Emily’s from highschool. So I just asked them and they agreed to do it here. We are just hoping to have lots of support for Emily.”
Bethany, who has been friends with Emily for years, is glad that Heaton has surrendered.
She says, “I’m really relieved about it, and it makes me feel better. I mean I know they had an idea of who it was but it makes me feel better that he is taken care of.”
Emily’s loved ones hope for a just trial for the man they believe did this to Emily.
Chloe Bagley, a friend of Emily, says,”He did a bad thing. He chose to get behind the wheel when he had been drinking and that was his choice and his responsibility. So I hope to see the punishment fit the crime because he made the decision to do something stupid. So he has not only ruined Emily’s life, he has ruined the lives of her family and friends.”
