Murder Trial for Jamie Hood will Cost Local Government

ATHENS- You have heard your commissioners speak frequently about big projects like road construction or even eyestrain safety….but what about covering the cost of a local murder trial?

County commissioners met last night to discuss the cost of accused cop killer, Jamie Hood’s murder trial. Clarke County court officials estimated that the cost of this trial will be well-over $300,000 dollars. Athens-Clarke county will have to reach into their “emergency” funds to cover the costs of jurors, bailiffs, and additional security. Commissioners are set to vote on this budget increase on April 7th.
