Amy Kay is the director of the McPhaul Children’s Center. Their educational philosophy reflects that every child is different and has their own unique personality, development and learning style. THey hope to maintain this philosophy even with President Obama’s plan to implement Universal Pre-K.

“There is a developmental appropriateness in teaching and in education. I don’t think that it would affect our curriculum. WE would continue to be committed to that and teach and provide the same education experiences that we do now,” Amy Says.

President Obama talked about US preschools today. He is hoping for a change in the system.

“Let’s make sure none of our kids start out the race of life already a step behind. Let’s make it a national priority to give every child access to a high quality early education.” Obama said.

President of the Georgia Speech and Language hearing association believes that early education in children is critical for their well being.

Kelly Ball says “Early intervention is very important for children with disabilities, and the earlier you can get honestly the most cost saving to the state because the children are in therapy a shorter amount of time.”

Amy Kay believes that this plan is a good idea if they keep a few things the same.

“Continue with small class size, I think it’s the training of the teachers, the educational experience and training. The professional level of the educators that you are having in the classroom.I think it vitally important,” Amy says.

As for the kids at McPhaul, they will continue to enjoy their time at recess.
