WATKINSVILLE, Ga. – Volunteers will be holding a winter book sale to raise money for programs the annual budget doesn’t cover. Penny Mills and other Board Members of Oconee County Library Friends (OCLF) hope to donate about $10,000 to the Oconee County Library.
Year after year, Mills is encouraged to see the volunteers who are motivated to help the Oconee County Library and their teen programs.
“There are a dozen regular volunteers who come back year after year to help put on a successful fundraising event”.
Nearly 24 volunteers were present at the 2017 winter book sale aiding buyers in the search for the perfect book.
The three-day sale starts with a preview night, only open to members of OCLF and book sellers. The last two days open up the selection to the community. There were about 6 booksellers at preview night buying for their own, separate bookstores.
“There is always a steady flow of people, but th
e half price day on the third day is by far the busiest of them all.”
There is even a bake sale going on too. Proceeds benefit the Oconee County Library’s teen programs.
Mills and her fellow volunteers will work to reach that $10,000 goal. We’ll have those results for you here at Grady Newsource.
