1. A Facebook posting has a few Oglethorpe County residents upset that their county alert system was not activated during a recent shooting. The Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s office is looking for ways to improve the system.

2. The Athens LGBT community is celebrating PRIDE week until Sept. 12. This is the first PRIDE week celebration since the Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling in late June.

3. A Holocaust survivor is signing copies of his autobiography at the Athens Barnes and Noble tonight at 7.

4. UGA coach Mark Richt will hold his weekly press conference today following a 51-14 win over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

5. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain today with a high of 84 degrees. More showers to come later this week.
