ATHENS, GA – A UGA Student died this morning at Athens Regional Medical Center. Tanzila Alam had been in the Intensive Care Unit at Athens Regional since Thursday.
UPDATE: We will be speaking with Alam’s roommate’s father about the the circumstances surrounding Alam’s death. Stay tuned to find out what he says they have been told.
A spokesperson from Athens Regional Medical Center said any person who was in contact with her and feels concerned should go to their physician. The hospital says there are no confirmed pathogens.
An official UGA spokesperson expressed the university’s sympathy for Alam’s passing. He says there is no cause for public concern at this time. Athens Regional told the university that there is no evidence of bacterial meningitis.
