Wave of Immigrants Become American Citizens in Georgia

ATLANTA — At the Atlanta office of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, 154 people became citizens today. More than 23,000 people in Georgia will become American citizens by the end of the 2015 fiscal year.

According to Brett Rinehart, Field Director for the Atlanta USCIS office, Georgia is the 7th highest state for naturalization.

He said there are five main requirements to become a citizen:

While he encourages every person to come to the decision at their own pace, he highlighted a few advantages of making the decision to become an American citizen.

    Great story! My parents immigrated from Mexico, so I can definitely relate to this story. I just watched it live on Ustream and the people that you interviewed were super candid. I was greatly surprised to see a current Grady NewSource being interviewed, it made the story that much better.
